Please note: Interest rate risk - When interest rates rise, bond prices fall. The opposite is also true: bond prices rise when interest rates fall. “Duration” is used to measure the sensitivity of a bond’s price to changes in interest rates. Duration is expressed as a unit number of years. For example, the price of a bond with an interest rate duration of 2 years would be expected to move 2% for every 1% move approx in interest rates. In general, securities with longer maturities (duration) are more sensitive to these interest rate changes compared to securities with shorter maturities (duration).
The Investment Manager uses underlying bond holdings and derivatives to manage the overall duration exposure of the Fund. Duration is only one factor that influences performance and other factors may have an impact on the outcome.
