Jeffrey Schulze, CFA

Jeffrey is a Head Investment Strategist with the Franklin Templeton Institute, the firm's global research and thought-leadership hub. In this role, he contributes capital market and economic insights to the institutional investor and financial advisor communities, drawing on the firm's diverse, specialist investment teams worldwide. Jeffrey synthesizes complex macroeconomic and capital market dynamics into clear, actionable insight, delivering high impact client presentations. He provides strategic market commentary that represents the Franklin Templeton Institute’s investment views across a wide range of forums.

He is the architect of the Anatomy of a Recession (AOR) program, which features a dashboard of 12 indicators tracking shifts in the U.S. economy that could signal increased recession risk. Jeffrey has more than 20 years of investment industry experience.

Prior to joining the Franklin Templeton Institute in August 2026, Jeffrey spent more than a decade at ClearBridge Investments, a specialist investment manager of Franklin Templeton. He joined ClearBridge in 2014 as a Senior Portfolio Specialist, was named an Investment Strategist in 2017, and became Head of Economic and Market Strategy in 2023. Before joining ClearBridge, he was a Portfolio Specialist at Lord Abbett.

Jeffrey received a B.S. in finance from Rutgers University and is a member of the CFA Institute. He is frequently quoted in the financial media, including the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, CNBC and Reuters.
