Jonathan Curtis is Co–Chief Investment Officer of Franklin Equity, a global investment platform focused on innovation and complex, underappreciated change. Based in Silicon Valley, Mr. Curtis works across Franklin Equity’s public equity strategies spanning growth, value, sector, and thematic mandates, as well as the firm’s private growth equity platform. He is also a portfolio manager on the Franklin Technology Fund.
Mr. Curtis has more than 30 years of experience in the technology sector, combining a deep technical foundation with long-standing investment expertise. He began his career as an engineer before transitioning into investing, joining Franklin Templeton in 2008 as an equity analyst covering IT hardware and communications equipment. He was named Director of Portfolio Management for the Franklin Equity Group in 2022 and Chief Investment Officer of the Franklin Equity Group in 2023. Franklin Equity was formed in 2025.
Prior to joining Franklin Templeton Mr. Curtis worked on the sell side covering the communications equipment sector. Earlier in his career he was a software and systems engineer in the communications equipment industry, experience that continues to inform his assessment of innovation-driven businesses.
Mr. Curtis holds an M.B.A. from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
